Bio

Marta Oti Sears is a pastor, freelance writer and speaker.

She is a contributing author of the book Just Moms: Conveying Justice in an Unjust World (Barclay Press). Her articles have been published in magazines and blogs in the U.S. and Canada including Christianity Today’s Her.Meneutics, Relevant, Today’s Christian Woman, Hello Darling (Mothers of Preschoolers International) and Red Letter Christians.

Marta is the Missional Communities Pastor at 2nd Street Community Church, a Friends/Quaker church in Newberg, Oregon. She works to inspire and equip the church to look outside of itself and to join Jesus in the good, just, and healing work of loving our local and global neighbors.

Marta worked at George Fox University as Director of Outreach & Discipleship and Multicultural Advisor, nurturing the spiritual development of college students and developing their understanding of race, ethnicity, power, and privilege.

She started and led a thriving moms group–Newberg Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)–that supports and equips mothers with children five-years-old and under.

Marta is an advocacy leader with International Justice Mission (IJM), a human rights agency that brings rescue to victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression.

She is currently earning a Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation and certification in spiritual direction at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.

Marta is a member of Redbud Writers Guild, a group of Christian authors, writers, and speakers who influence faith and culture.
